Patents are a form of intellectual property, and for this reason many women patented their inventions under their husband's or father's names (Frey).
To counter-argue this statement, based on another scholarly source, most women who patented their product were not married at the time. This could correlate as to why women patented their invention when they weren't legally tied to someone - so their idea didn't become the spouse's property.
Based on my findings, a lot of women's lack of achievement is attributed to their lack of opportunity. My findings suggest that women do not have the creative spark to go out and create something that intrigues them and could potentially impact the rest of society in a revolutionary way. This article states that the passion to create inventions is diminished by the women's expected stay at home mom job, and only then would the woman who is a mother go after her inventive pursuits after such a tragedy like a death in the family or going through an existential crisis. It is stated in this article that the women's inventive "activities" intersected their responsibilities as wives and mothers (Marovich, 142).

Another one of my sources focuses on the organizational logic affects of sex differences in scientists commercial productivity. Women are less likely to patent their products than men are. Why is this? It could mean many factors; lack of knowledge, limited access or restricted involvement in established commercial networks, or other frequently occurring problems. If woman had better knowledge and opportunities to patent their ideas, the act of protecting what they own would be more effective in their efforts to market, commercialize, and diffuse their inventions.
In the last few decades, women have asserted their rights. If they wish to focus on a career with the involvement of inventions - it should be praised. Being a mother is not the only job for women around the world; they can have dreams about creating something so life-changing to the public. That being said the number of women entering the Industrial field is increasing. In the past, majority of society believed women were far more better in English, humanities, and social-sciences - whilst men excelled in math and science. Think again, women can excel in the industrial field, even if the male dominance within the field seems grim.

Being that sociology is the systematic study of social behavior and human groups, understanding the significance of women inventors and their contributions to society is extremely important. The roles that women inventors have played in the advancement of technology, as well as the inhibition they experienced because of their gender, allows further study into the realms of human behavior and socialization.
